Selfishness

We’re all selfish. I certainly am. And don’t try to tell me you’re not, dickwad. If you help a friend or family member, you are not being altruistic – you are merely maintaining a valuable asset. If you were truly altruistic, you would spend all of your time and money and effort helping not just friends and family and causes you believe in, but total strangers and even enemies. So after working all day and helping your child with her school project, don’t watch TV or surf the Web; instead, drive to a run-down neighborhood and go around handing out money and offering to help people with whatever problems they might have. You’re not gonna do that, are you? You selfish prick.

Selfishness is nothing to be ashamed of. It is inherent. To do things for which there is no personal benefit would be stupid. You might sometimes be convinced by moralistic altruism that you “shouldn’t be so selfish”, but why do others want you to not be selfish? Because they will benefit from your unselfishness! They are merely promoting their own selfishness by persuading you to give up yours. And when you do something “altruistic” merely because others pressure you, you are not being altruistic; you are buying relief from their pressure. I say, tell these fuckers to go to hell.

There is always a selfish benefit to anyone’s actions, no matter how “altruistic” they might appear. Helping someone gives one a good feeling, which is an immediate benefit. Charitable contributions provide not only a good feeling, but also a tax break. “Altruism” makes one look like a nice person to others, and the benefit is that these people are more likely to become/remain his friends and also to help him if he ever needs them. When my girlfriend blows me, I know it’s only because I supply her with crack.

Redistribution of wealth (welfare, food stamps, etc) is not altruism. Politicians enforce it in order to secure votes (there are more poor people than rich), and we surrender our tax money (which pays for the redistribution of wealth) in order to stay out of jail. All the homeless and the welfare leeches can drop dead as far as I’m concerned. I suffer at a shit job 50 hours a week, and it burns my scrotum that millions of lowlifes live for free off my labor.

When we realize and accept the fact that every living organism is selfish, we will be less surprised and appalled at all the dishonesty and thievery in the world. When I believed in altruism I was outraged every time I read or heard about some jerkoff politician lying and stealing. Now that I see that we’re all motivated by selfishness, I expect lying and corruption, so they no longer surprise or appall me. Of course, that doesn’t keep me from wanting to rip off their heads and shit down their necks.
